.
Client: USDA Rural Utilities | TDX Adak Generating
Location: Adak, Alaska
For this design | build project, the priorities are identified as 1) Building a new diesel genset powerplant (third party vendor) to replace an existing aging powerplant, 2) reduce line loss with new distribution lines that are to be buried to reduce vulnerability to wind, salt, and moisture, and 3) increase system reliability with replacement of switching cabinets at 12 different locations. Based on the electrical demand for the City of Adak, Alaska and the local fish processing industry, approximately 500KW will be required. A significant amount of logistical planning has been required for this project. Adak, Alaska is one of the last islands on the end of the Aleutian Chain of Islands.
